Advanced Materials Technology A.A.S.

Return to Degrees & Certificates - Alphabetical Return to: Degrees & Certificates - Alphabetical

Advanced Materials Technology is a multidisciplinary field, working at the crossroads of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and information technology.  Not only does it provide the potential for miniaturization, but materials at the nano level exhibit entirely new material properties, which offer the possibility of new devices, applications, and technologies.  The program provides graduates the knowledge, skills and abilities to operate a variety of nanofabrication equipment, understand scientific principles and the behavior of matter at the atomic level in chemical, biological and molecular systems.

The Advanced Materials Technology Associate of Applied Science will prepare students for careers in emerging nanotechnology industries as entry-level nanotechnicians in research and development corporations, fabrication, biology/agriculture, medicine, electronics, and material science.

With this degree, you may seek jobs such as:

Semiconductor Processing Technician, Test Technician, Materials Technician, Composites Manufacturing Technician, Quality Assurance Technician

Related Awards:

Semiconductor Materials Technology Level 1 Certificate

Nanobiotechnology Level 1 Certificate

Nanotechnology Advanced Technical Certificate

Total Credit Hours Required: 60

A milestone course is a course that is critical for success in this program.

Additional Program Information

The Associate of Applied Science in Advanced Materials Technology prepares students for employment in a broad range of materials related industries and/or transfer to a baccalaureate program through a competency-based curriculum and hands-on training.  The program provides graduates with the knowledge and hands-on skills to operate a variety of materials processing equipment, together with a fundamental understanding of the scientific and engineering principles which underlie the structure, processing, properties, and performance of novel materials.

The two tracks in Level 1 Certificate, namely, Semiconductor Manufacturing and NanoBiotechnology, are stackable as well as embedded in the AAS degree plan.
