The Marketable Skills Achievement Award is a sequence of courses that allows students to obtain high in-demand skills or improve their current skills.

Marketable Skills Achievement Awards are embedded into A.A.S and Certificate program plans.  Fulfillment of prerequisites is accomplished by following the program plan.  MSAs are automatically awarded upon completion of the required courses.  If an A.A.S or Certificate program plan is not being followed,  please see the Program Coordinator to determine the requirement for completion of prerequisites for each course associated with the award.

Students will learn to setup, configure, maintain, and manage Linux and UNIX-based networks. Upon completion of study, students will learn how to operate from the command-line environment on a Linux or UNIX platform and manage and administer networks utilizing Linux networked operating system. Students will learn to configure the Apache Web Server, share files utilizing NFS, setup and support Windows clients with SAMBA, and provide DNS and DHCP services with Linux. Students will also learn to create IPTABLES to provide firewall services on the Linux server/workstation level.

The Linux & Unix Administration MSA prepares students for the LinuxPlus certification exam.  This is a nationally recognized and high-demand certification.
