The Pharmacy Technology program provides students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required of an entry-level technician in both community and hospital pharmacy settings. This certificate program offers a comprehensive curriculum of didactic as well as hands-on training in prescription filling, inventory packaging, patient profiling, sterile products preparation, and pharmacy calculations.
This training prepares students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination.
Northwest Vista College is accredited for pharmacy technician training by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). In accordance with ASHP accreditation requirements, students must interview with the Pharmacy Technology Program Coordinator and be recommended for continuation in the program, prior to entering the second semester of training.
