Nanobiotechnology Level 1 Certificate

This program is being phased out effective Spring 2023. 

As of March 21, 2023, No new students will be accepted into this program.

**Students currently in these programs will be able to complete their coursework by the summer of 2026. If a student is not planning to complete by that time, they are encouraged to reach out to their advisor to review other major options. 

 

The Level 1 certificate in Nanobiotechnology will prepare students to work on the interface between nanotechnology and biotechnology that involves synthesis and fabrication of materials and devices, surface and molecular engineering.

Nanobiotechnology is an emerging field of research and development that seeks new solutions to pressing health and environmental problems by combining materials sciences and nano-engineering with life sciences.  Nanobiotechnology represents the future of medical diagnostics and healthcare as this exciting frontier is generating new therapies, devices, and diagnostics tools.

The Level One Certificate in Nanobiotechnology will prepare students to work on the interface between nanotechnology and biotechnology that involves synthesis and fabrication of materials and devices, surface and molecular engineering.  The students will complete16 credits in materials and nanotechnology courses and will complete 7 credits specializing in Biotechnology as it applies to nanotechnology.
