ASTR 1303 - Stars and Galaxies Lecture Integrated Reading & Writing Basic Skills Prerequisite: INRW 0420
Math Basic Skills Prerequisite: MATH 0320 This course is a descriptive course in stellar, galactic, and extra-galactic astronomy intended for non-science majors. Topics include celestial coordinates, light and telescopes, stars, the Milky Way, external galaxies, cosmology, and dark matter. Visits to the Scobee Planetarium and some field trips may be held for telescopic observation of interesting phenomena.
This course fulfills the Life and Physical Sciences foundational component area of the core and addresses the following required objectives: Critical Thinking, Communication, Empirical Quantitative Skills, and Teamwork.
