The Associate of Applied Science in Pharmacy Technology program provides students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required of a technician in either community or hospital pharmacy settings.  This program offers a comprehensive curriculum of didactic as well as hands-on training in prescription filling, inventory packaging, patient profiling, sterile products preparation, and pharmacy calculations.

Additional Program Information


The Associate of Applied Science in Pharmacy Technology program provides students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required of a technician in either community or hospital pharmacy settings.  This program offers a comprehensive curriculum of didactic as well as hands-on training in prescription filling, inventory packaging, patient profiling, sterile products preparation, and pharmacy calculations.

Northwest Vista College is accredited for pharmacy technician training by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP).   All ASHP accredited programs have requirements of a student screening and selection process and an external learning experience (Internship/Practicum) of at least 120 hours.

In accordance with ASHP accreditation requirements, students must apply for entrance into the program.  Interested students may enroll in PHRA 1301- Introduction to Pharmacy and HITT 1305- Medical Terminology prior to submitting an application.   Completed applications must be submitted by October 15th and April 15th for entry in the subsequent semester.  Please contact the Pharmacy Technology Program Coordinator or http://alamo.edu/main.aspx?id=10723 for the application, student handbook, course descriptions, and admission requirements.
