Additional Program Information
The Pharmacy Technology program provides students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required of a technician in either community or hospital pharmacy settings. This certificate program offers a comprehensive curriculum of didactic as well as hands-on training in prescription filling, inventory packaging, patient profiling, sterile products preparation, and pharmacy calculations.
Northwest Vista College is accredited for pharmacy technician training by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). All ASHP accredited programs have requirements of a student screening and selection process and an external learning experience (Internship/Practicum) of at least 120 hours.
In accordance with ASHP accreditation requirements, students must apply for entrance into the program. Interested students may enroll in PHRA 1301- Introduction to Pharmacy and HITT 1305- Medical Terminology prior to submitting an application. Completed applications must be submitted by October 15th and April 15th for entry in the subsequent semester.
