The Associate of Arts with a concentration in Dance is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year university to major or minor in dance, and will benefit any student planning to enter a dance-related profession, including performing, teaching, directing, or arts administration.
Emphasis on building dance skills grounded in an understanding of the body’s healthy structure and function
Practical hands-on experience in the art and craft of choreographing and performance
Introduction to a variety of contexts for understanding dance, its relationship to other arts and the humanities
Direct exposure to artists currently working in the field, through visiting artists and community partnerships with local dance companies for hands-on learning
Students interested in pursuing a professional development certificate and/or an internship in dance instruction for children should speak with the Dance Program Coordinator for more information regarding Dance Pedagogy training.
