Return to: Degree Plans & Certificates - Academic/Technical Northwest Vista College has partnered with David H. Paul, Inc., a nationally recognized water treatment training and consulting firm, to provide state-of-the-art equipment and instruction for a program in Advanced Water Treatment.
Graduates of the Advanced Water Treatment program have the knowledge to operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and chemically clean equipment that that is essential to manufacturing. The program centers on project-based learning in which students are introduced to water treatment systems, water treatment plant equipment, water analysis, pretreatment membranes, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, and other high purity technologies. Training prepares students to be employed as entry-level technicians in a variety of water treatment settings, including: municipal drinking water plants, water recycling plants, semiconductor industry, food and dairy industry, petrochemical industry, electric power generation industry, industrial waste water plants, and government agencies.
The Associates of Applied Science degree is recommended for students who wish to eventually pursue a Baccalaureate degree or a management position in industry. The academic courses included in the A.A.S. degree will transfer on to Baccalaureate institutions and provide a broader training for industry.
Graduates are also prepared for eligibility to sit for exams required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for municipal water treatment professionals.
Students are encouraged to enroll full-time.
