Return to: Degree Plans & Certificates - Academic/Technical The Associate of Arts in Dance is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year university to major or minor in dance, and will benefit any student planning to enter a dance-related profession, including performing, teaching, directing, or arts administration.
- Emphasis on building dance skills grounded in an understanding of the body’s healthy structure and function
- Practical hands-on experience in the art and craft of choreographing and performance
- Introduction to a variety of contexts for understanding dance, its relationship to other arts and the humanities
- Direct exposure to artists currently working in the field, through visiting artists and community partnerships with local dance companies for hands-on learning
Students interested in pursuing a professional development certificate and/or an internship in dance instruction for children should speak with the Dance Program Coordinator for more information regarding Dance Pedagogy training.
