Associate of Arts, concentration in Drama

Return to Degree Plans & Certificates - By Degree Type Return to: Degree Plans & Certificates - By Degree Type

The Drama program offers students a well-balanced base of theatre education and opportunities to perform in, design, build, and run theatrical productions. The Drama program provides an environment where students can develop a passion for the theatre as both an art form and a mechanism for growth, expression, and change, become more creative in all aspects of life, appreciate how the theatre arts is applicable to our everyday lives, develop skills in collaboration, communication, and critical thinking, and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to continue theatre studies at a 4-year university.

Some four-year institutions may not accept all courses in the major field of study as part of their Baccalaureate Degree Program. Students should consult the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and Kinesiology, their Student Success Advisor, or the four-year university to which they wish to transfer for information on transfer agreements. All electives should be chosen in accordance with the degree requirements of the college or university to which the student plans to transfer.

All Drama majors must take one technical production lab hour for at least two semesters to total two hours (DRAM 1120 and DRAM 1121) . It is strongly suggested that Drama majors take one technical production lab hour each semester to total four hours in four semesters

and   ). This is a consistent requirement for Drama majors in all major universities.
