ASTR 1304 - Solar System Lecture
Integrated Reading & Writing Basic Skills Prerequisite: INRW 0420
Math Basic Skills Prerequisite: MATH 0320
This course is intended for non-science majors. Topics include the origin and evolution of our solar system, including Newton’s and Kepler’s Laws, planetary atmospheres, surface processes (including impact cratering, volcanism, and plate tectonics), rings, moons, asteroids, and comets. Visits to the Scobee Planetarium and observing field trips may be held.
This course fulfills the Life and Physical Sciences foundational component area of the core and addresses the following required objectives: Critical Thinking, Communication, Empirical Quantitative Skills, and Teamwork.
