concentration in Dance

Return to Degree Plans & Certificates - Academic/Technical Return to: Degree Plans & Certificates - Academic/Technical

The Associate of Arts (AA) degrees are specifically designed for transfer as the equivalent of the first half of the Baccalaureate Degree requirements of most public colleges and Universities.

The Dance concentration is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year university to major or minor in dance, and will benefit any student planning to enter a dance-related profession, including dance performance and direction, primary or secondary dance education, arts administration, or dance for physical fitness.

A comprehensive dance education will develop skills required to create, perform, communicate and understand dance. These skills are acquired through the study of technique, improvisation, choreography, performance, history, culture and anatomy.  Students who declare dance as their concentration should be advised by a member of the dance faculty when selecting their courses.
